Asakusa is a poplular destination to explore of old Tokyo.  Step back in time in Asakusa and get a taste of how old Japan was like in the Edo period.  As a district in Tokyo, it is home of one of the oldest and most famous temples, the Sensoji temple.   While you explore the temple grounds, enjoy shopping for Japanese treats on Nakamise shopping street.  If you enjoy food, there are many choices of food to choose from with many hidden gems all around the temple.

If you’re looking to explore another side of Asakusa, there are less thoroughly explored streets on the east side of the Sumida River, from Mukojima and the Skytree all the way down to Kameido and Ryogoku.  It invites you to discover the shitamachi’s culture of craftsmanship, its newly trendy cafés, tasty eateries and bars, plus a few hidden gems known only to locals.
